I let out a breath and, with it, the weight that had been sitting on my chest all night.
Whether I liked it or not, I need this dog, and he needed me. We’d both lost Dave.
This is from the book I am currently reading… “The Other Wife” by Shirley Jump. The heroine discovers at her husband’s wake that she was not the only wife of David Reynolds and embarks on an fact-finding adventure with said other wife and Harvey the Wonder Dog.
The author, Shirley, is a hard-working romance novelist — churning out multiple books per year, and yet is extremely generous in sharing her wealth of writing knowledge with fledgling writers, regardless of their genre or level of experience. She encourages, teaches and shares her time and knowledge in a way that I am both shocked by and grateful for.
And with a bio that says “Booksellers Best Award winner Shirley Jump spends her days writing romantic comedies to feed her shoe addiction and avoid housework” she is clearly a kindred spirit even without having picked up her pen.
Many blessings to you this holiday, Shirley. With all you do for your writing list, I have no doubt you made Santa’s nice list this year.
