Things That Don’t Suck: Summer Symbols

They are a symbol of summer to me.

~ of feeling informal and without constraint.

~ of carefree afternoons on the beach.

~ of days in the sun with my girls.

I would have to amend that to “carefree afternoons at the pool” since our nearest beach is 12 hours away.
    However, I agree 100%.
    Especially about the flip flops!

    For me it’s
1)homegrown tomato sandwiches: red ripe acid-y tomato on white bread with lots of mayo and salt. Bacon optional.

    2) wearing shorts and T-shirts to work, which I can get away with when not teaching.

    3) fudgesicles

    4) magnolia blossoms

Painted toenails, Popsicles in the freezer, roasted marshmallows, the smell of sun tan oil

The beach, bright pink nail polish on my toes, the soft and breezy clothing good for warm/hot days, sweet corn and fresh tomatoes.
